Description
In August of 2020, a dear friend of mine from Sweden, wrote me about her beloved pet dog Freddie. She was very concerned about a health issue he had. Fortunately he got better.
Still, it motivated me to do a portrait of him, for her. I based it on a photo of him she had posted on Facebook.
Painting Freddie was a nice change of pace for me from large scale landscape work. He was done in just a few hours. Then off to Sweden.
Sannel's grateful response made all the effort so worth while. Seeing Freddie put into a frame and displayed in her home was very touching. Sannel has enthusiastically commented on and promoted my art for over 6 years. It was a small way for me to thank her.

How wonderful, how sweet! You've captured so much spirit, Jerry. Oddly enough I am doing dog portraits as well. First a dachshund, and now my son's chihuahuas. It's a challenge. And so filled with rewards!

Thank you very much, Nancy...this was all about giving...giving to a wonderful friend that had a huge scare that she might lose her only companion. So I was motivated to paint Freddie...to have for the rest of her life!

Thank you so much, Roseanne! I just had to do this...I used to do a lot of dog portraits decades ago. Recently circumstances of people I care about have motivated me to do this once again!
